Model Cup (modelling as a Sport), we "Inspire... Motivate... Uplift"
Founded in 2005, We as Model Cup are proud to say that our current Miss SA "Nicole Flint" was a Model Cup contender and winner for her age group in Model Cup 2005.

Model Cup as a sport has been very successful amongst our youth, and it is awesome to see how "Today's talent becomes tomorrow's leaders". We have seen that "HOPE" is at an all time low and the suicide figure is at an all time high amongst our youth. Model Cup keeps the youth off the streets, out of gangs, drug free and in a safe family environment with Christian values. We give them hope, recognition, uplift them, develop their self-esteem and confidence, give them experience, networking skills and even inspire them to develop their entrepreneurial skills. Letters and testimonials over the years from various parents testify to that fact and proves what Model Cup does for our youth.

We stand to make a positive difference in all the youth, who affiliate with Model Cup. We don't discriminate against any contenders background or status eg. married, kids or area of residence etc. Rather, we focus on developing and improving their different talents no matter what shape or size the person is. Our events are always industry related to help prepare the models for the real thing (castings, auditions, shoots, and promotions). Even if they are not going to pursue a modelling career, they will become a better doctor, advocate, accountant etc.


How does it work?

Model Cup Ranking

Models compete for points in a safe family environment in different day competitions that are affiliated with Model Cup through the year (see back page for some of the events).

We have decided to bring back the up to R50,000-00 (Fifty Thousand Rand) Cash Reward that will be divided between the year-end group winners, and Top Modelling schools/agencies, at Champion of Champions 2011, according to their points that they have accumulated during the year. An international scout will be scouting one or more models, male or female, to share in a R250,000-00 International Modelling Contract - it will not be decided on points but rather what the industry are looking for.

Most of the time at our events the age groups will be Male and Female Up to 7yrs, 8 to 11yrs, 12 to 15yrs, and 16yrs and older. But it could differ in different events. Model Cup Points will be allocated according to your ranking you achieved in every event. Take note that you never have to win an event to be the overall winner at the end of a year. It works similar to tennis and golf in that regard: the more you compete the better and higher you will rank in your age group and so you will receive the recognition you worked hard for and deserve.

Model Cup is structured in such a way that competitions can link up / affiliate with us. Competition organizers are welcome to associate their events. Please contact us if you are interested.


Provincial and National Colours

Model Cup has been structured that anybody can do modelling as a sport, each division focus on different aspects of the person & industry. While you compete in the different day competitions for Model Cup, you will simultaneously compete for your Provincial Colours, and then later for your National Colours.

Each person competes in his/her own age group: up to 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and older. Models are limited to their age group only. If you turn 15 this year, you will only compete against other 15 year olds.

Points are given separately in 6 different divisions: 1. Ramp (Catwalk style, technique & attitude), 2. Pageant (personality), 3. Body (body tone & shape only), 4. Photographic (Beauty & Photogenic of face only), 5. Freeze (poses mannequin style), and 6. Beat (walking/dancing to the music). It is a lot like athletics with different disciplines. Ex: you might not have the face but have a great body, or great face but not so good a body, or you only have good rhythm and stage personality). It has been designed specifically that way to give maximum recognition and exposure to our local talent.

Rankings are determined by the best average judges score (over one or more competitions) in each division in your age group. So, models will have 18 chances - 6 divisions x 3 (1st, 2nd, 3rd) =18, to get into the team for their respective Province/Region.

The last chance to qualify for your provincial colours will be in October. Models will then be invited to represent their provincial teams and come compete for their Model Cup National Colours at the National Finals in December after the schools have closed.

South Africa has been divided into 17 regions/ provinces. You don't have to only enter in your area/province to qualify for your provincial colours, you can compete anywhere in the country if you would like to travel to other competitions.

At each provincial final there will be scouts that could give away a contract to the value of R100,000-00 to one or more male or female contenders.


Model Hunt International (www.ModelHuntInternational.co.uk)

Last year was a huge success and we saw 4 models share in the 1 Million Dollar International Contract. Our annual Model Hunt and Model Hunt International are open for all ages 4 to 30 years Male and Female. There will be first rounds all over SA and then the final will be in the second half of the year. This prestigious event will take place over 2 to 4 days and this year there will be a One Million Rand International Modelling Contract up for grabs that could be divided between one or more models.

First round entry fee is R250-00.


Costs for a year

1. Your first Model Cup Competition is a photographic competition that spans across the Model Cup Year. Entry fee for this is included in the membership/affiliation fee.

2. There will be a membership/affiliation fee towards Model Cup for a year (12 months) of R500-00, but for a limited time only, models would only have to pay R400-00 for a year (12 months), if they enter and pay online with all their complete detail. Each member would then get their own profile page on the Model Cup Website with photos and points being updated after each competition. The profile page will also show member's ranking in Model Cup Age Group and in Provincial Region.

3. An optional debit order of R250-00/month for a year - monthly member. To save costs, this value can be redeemed each month at a Model Cup owned one day competition and not an affiliated competition - day event value R250-00 and plus 2 spectator fees value R100-00 to the combined value of R350-00, save R100-00. If the competition value (R250-00) is not used within a specific month it will be "saved" in your account for other Model Cup owned competitions, Photographic Packages, or even towards a Professional Portfolio Test Shoot. Spectator tickets not used within the month do not carry over to the next month. Your money will be stored in a virtual account. As an added bonus there will also be a 10% discount on any photo orders at events if you are a monthly member.

4. Model Training: Models that want to join a modelling school can register with Model Cup and pay R250-00/month debit order for a year, and the model will then be managed and placed at a good modelling school in their area. Models progress will be monitored from time to time, and if the modelling school does not perform satisfactory models can be placed with another modelling school. Take Note: Model Cup is not a modelling school and only do work shops from time to time.

5. Normal day competition costs will depend on the organisers of that specific event and whether you are going to pay on the day or before the closing date.


How do I join?

Just follow the steps according to your needs:

1. Go to www.ModelCup.co.za. Fill in the form (under Become a Model Cup Member) comprehensively so we can better help the model with their model profile and needs. Also update your profile regularly to ensure we have all your latest details & experiences.

2. You will be logged in automatically after that, where you can then pay for your 1year registration, either online via Credit Card or you can transfer into our bank account (remember to send us your proof of payment please).

3. Models can then also enter & pay for any future event on the schedule. Just remember that there is a cost saving when you enter before the closing date.


Opportunity (Evolving Concepts)

Model Cup is for everybody not just for the privileged few. We have come up with a structured method to compensate those who would like to make use of this opportunity. The most potent advertising as we have seen with Model Cup is through word of mouth. We have seen that natural referrals happen all the time but it is difficult to keep track of who referred who, so we can compensate the referrers... until now.

Models and parents can become scouts for Model Cup and start earning direct and indirect commission for their efforts. Models that also struggle to compete because of financial constraints can now sponsor themselves and earn an income through the people they refer.

All the Model/Scout's money will go into a MC-Wallet for every member and can be used for events or photo shoots. Without almost any effort, models & scouts can have multiple income streams, that all adds up.
